Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie, consumed at home Friday 23rd October 2015. Pitch black with a beige head. Soft in the mouth it’s a thick full bodied Barley Wine courtesy of Dranken Geers in Oostakker, Gent. This is lovely, thick in the mouth, chewy but so wonderfully hoppy, it’s really juicy but with wonderful treacle edge. It’s so confusing, on the one hand it’s like a big Barley Wine and yet on the other it’s flighty, zippy and with those juicy hops it is also tasting just like a BIPA as well. It’s a tale of two beers in one glass. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0

Tap at Hathor for rating #8000 on RB. Shiny, slightly cloudy black with a low, fine head. Weird nose of chocolate, licorice, caramel, and a touch of tropical fruit. Fascinating, fruity flavor, reminds me of traditional Italian cookies! Almond or hazelnuts, candied grapes, chocolate, vanilla, and a bit of tropical fruit. Delicious and original flavor.
