The underrated dark horse of the original Augment trio; Patternist gained a massive following thanks to its no frills El Dorado and Simcoe hop bill, albeit hopped up to the absolute nines, and its ornate tiling artwork garnering amazing feedback. We’ve revisited beer two of the three original Augment beers with another run in tallboys, and treated with all the new techniques we’ve learned in the last half a year. Expect all kinds of high juice and low bitterness notes bursting from this incredible IPA – welcome back, Patternist.

Pineapple, honeydew, orange—lovely fruit up front, slightly bitter backbone

Pours unclezr, muddy blonde. Small white head. Smell is creamy sweet, fruity, ne style yeast, and a bit of candy like, almost sugary note. Taste is full, creamy tad sweet, NE yeasty Ness ( just a bit too much yeast for me). Fruity, bit tropical, citrus, definitely sweet towards the end of the palate. Good IPA if you like some sweetness, and a mild powdery mouthfeel.

Can at home. Ugly murky dusty yellow color, full sized dense white head that lasts for a long time. Aroma and flavor are malts, citrus, odd tropical fruit notes and an unfamiliar kind of hoppy sweetness. All in all not my kind of IPA. Leans towards a milkshakey IPA. Meh.

440ml can. Smooth, juicy and tropical with ripe fruits, mango, papaya, pineapple, orange and blood orange notes. Quite a lot of tropical fruits here. Interesting.

(440ml can from Glasbanken) Pours quite hazy dark gold with a white head and a little lace. Notes of grapefruit, soft floral orange peels, light papaya, grass, soft resins, touch of caramel sweetness to the pale malt but finishes rather dry, light hop greenness, citrus peels and flowers in the lightly bitter finish. Medium bodied, with soft but filling carbonation. Solid NEIPA if nothing particularly mind blowing.

Can, at Christianssand Brygghus. An unclear orange colored beer with a finger thick white head. Grapefruit, orange, resins and a light touch of pale malts in the aroma. It's full bodied, super-nicely carbonated, semi-dry and with a decent bitterness. The flavor has some pale malts as a foundation for the hops, with grapefruit, orange and pine cones, and a wee grass touch. Lasting hop driven finish. A delicious one indeed, not too NEIPA-ish. 190807
