Draught from a 10 liter (or was it 20 liter) Smögen whisky cask @ Bishops Arms Plaza. The only cask there is so you can taste the .rar before the beer even hits your lips. Pours copperish black with no head worth writing home about. Smell is sweet, malty and smokey with roasted malts, heavy peat, sweet liquorice candy, soot, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, moist soil, burnt wood, vanilla fudge and peated whisky. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and smokey with roasted malts, heavy peat, soot, dark roast coffee, tar, burnt wood, burning peated whisky, hay, sweet liquorice candy, freshly baked cookies, dark chocolate, caramel, vanilla fudge, smoked sausage and moist soil. Mouthfeel is round, soft, slightly flat, tiny roasted astringent, tiny viscous and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter, malty and smokey with roasted malts, heavy peat, caramel, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, hay, burnt wood, liquorice fudge, vanilla fudge, soot and peated whisky. The barrel is overwhelming in this one. It’s really all peated single malt whisky with a hint of Arbetarporter. Surprisingly it works and turns out nice for a peated whisky barrel aged beer.
