This is a collaboration between All In Brewing and Beerbliotek. Our ambition was to make a black, yet easy drinking, pale ale with subtle roasted notes and an aromatic hop profile. We used American Mosaic and Chinook hops, which adds notes of blood orange, passion fruit and a hint of resinous spice.

Keg at BrewDog, Stockholm. Near black, firm creamy head. Aroma of chocolate and licorice. Mid dry with medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Earthy licorice and coffee, light notes of tropical fruit and orange. Lingering bitterness. More hoppy porter than Black IPA.

Draught at Söder om Småland, Malmö
Very dark color, almost black, with compact head. Strong aroma of roasted malt, some coffee, hidden sweaty hop. Dry mouthfeel, a bit ashy, spoiling the hop character that strives to show some fruitiness.
Not a good combination.

Draught sample @ Bishops Arms Park Avenue courtesy of Marsiblursi. Pours hazy blackish dark brown with a frothy blackish beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace on the glass. Smell is fruity, malty and herbal with roasted malts, burnt crispbread, ammonium chloride, peaches, mango, honeydew melon, freshly cut grass, dark roast coffee, pine needles, passionfruit, burnt caramel, lemon zest and pink grapefruit juice. Taste is bitter, slightly sour, slightly fruity and herbal with heavily roasted malts, ammonium chloride, dark roast coffee, burnt toast, grapefruit rinds, freshly cut grass, pine needles, lemon zest, resinous wood, unripe tropical fruits, ripe gooseberries and hints of moist soil, black currant leaves, lemon juice and dusty cereal. Mouthfeel is dry, tiny round, dusty, slightly astringent and light bodied. Finish is bitter and tiny sour with heavily roasted malts, grapefruit rinds, dark roast coffee, burnt toast, unripe tropical fruits, black currant leaves, pine needles, moist soil, lemon juice and hints of dusty cereal and sambuca. Nice light BIPA that packs a punch but there are some off things that keep it away from perfection. Not a huge fan of the dusty toasted cereal feel and the roast and hops provides a slight sourness to the taste I would have preferred not to be there.
