330ml Bottle (Bishops Arms, Sundsvall) - Black with a foamy tan head. Liquorice, roasted malt and soapy hops in the aroma. Liquorice, aniseed, coffee and soapy hops all feature in the smooth and nicely balanced taste. Nice stuff.

Sample @ SMÖF 2012. Pours hazy blackish brown with a frothy beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace on the glass. Smell is sweet, malty and herbal with roasted malts, caramel, dill, gooseberries, pine, sweetened coffee, lemon balm, butterscotch, grapefruit rinds and sweet liquorice candy. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter and tiny sour with dark bread, grapefruit rinds, salty liquorice candy, roasted malts, grass, resinous wood, gooseberries, dill, lemon balm, dark roast coffee and orange peal. Mouthfeel is round, tiny tart, tiny astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter with roasted malts, grapefruit rinds, salty liquorice candy, pine, grass and resinous wood.

Bottled at Bittens, Härnösand. Near black, rich creamy head. Aroma of chocolate, raw licorice and black currant. Mid sweet with medium body and soft mouthfeel. Mildly tarry with spun sugar, relaxed and chocolaty. Hops seem fairly restrained compared to roasty malt. Mid bitter finsih. Really nice - probably the best debut beer from a new Swedish brewer since Närke Stormaktsporter!
