Taste at Trail's End. Pours black, with a small, beige head. The nose is big vanilla, caramel, walnuts, brown sugar, and light pine. Very sweet and syrupy. Light, slick, and thin. Fair.

12 oz. can purchased in Frisco, Colorado. Pours an opaque dark brown color with a tiny tan head and fair retention. Only a tiny bit of lacing. Vanilla bean aroma. Has a very dark roasted flavor balanced with sweet vanilla bean notes and a short finish. Low carbonation. Medium body. Smooth and clean. Really good.

22oz Bottle brought back from my Denver trip. Clear deep brown and a nice dense creamy light tan head. Sweet cocoa and vanilla aroma. Light bitter chocolate and plenty of vanilla in the flavors. Not exactly robust and fairly light and sweet. Some wet brown paper malt flavors at the end, and I think a little under bittered.

Bottle thanks to Rick. Pours a dark amber ruby with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong vanilla, roast, and chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with rich malt and light sweetness. Good.

Bottle thanks to Doodler, thanks! Pours a dark bay with a grayish yellow brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a strong vanilla note with a bit of baking roasted malts. Flavor starts with vanilla but has a good amount of roasted malts in the finish and just a touch of bitter chocolate.

Sample @ Stockholm Beer & Whisky 2012. Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a small mocha head that leaves a dmall trace on the glass while quickly dissipating. Smell is sweet with toasted malts, milk chocolate, lots of vanilla, wood, hazelnuts and vanilla fudge. Taste is sweet with bread, chocolate, powdered sugar, vanilla fudge, vanilla essence, wood and sweetened coffee. Mouthfeel is round, smooth, tiny watery and light to medium bodied. Finish is sweet and tiny bitter with roasted malts, bitter chocolate, vanilla essence and wood. Pretty much all sugary vanilla and not in a very good way.

Tap at Dry Dock - murky brown/black pour - looks like French press coffee - intense, earthy vanilla aroma, without much else present, but the vanilla is quite pleasant - in the flavor, the vanilla is well-integrated with the nuttiness, coffee and roast of the malt - nice balance of dark malt bitterness and vanilla sweetness - some touches of caramel - if you don’t like vanilla, it probably isn’t for you, but it is nicely done.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours black with a medium beige head that diminishes to an outer ring. Aroma of roasted malt and vanilla coffee. Medium body with a roasty malt character and notes of vanilla, mild hops and coffee. The finish alternates between vanilla and chocolate and leaves a lightly bitter coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.
