Bottle from Systembolaget, bought in February 2013. Black with a medium tan head. Roasted malt, dried fruit, light spices, coffee and chocolate. The body was full and the aftertaste long. Quite tasty.

Keg at brewdog. Pours black, smoky burnt berry taste, light sweetness, chocolate, very bitter. Burnt taste recedes as it warms.

13.65 ounce nitro can into snifter, best before 10/29/2019. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and creamy khaki head with insane retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts the whole glass. Thick creamy lacing clings around the glass. Insane appearance. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, toasted oats, roasted nuts, biscuit, and dark bread; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, toasted oats, roasted nuts, biscuit, and dark bread; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hop; and roast/charred bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, toasted oats, roasted nuts, biscuit, dark bread, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Light carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 10.2%. Overall this is a fantastic Russian imperial stout! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the big ABV; with the mellowly bitter/charred/drying finish. Not aggressive. Amazingly rich and well rounded imperial stout malt complexity, balancing earthy hops, and restrained fruity English yeast character. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on English style example. Better than I remember when I first had it.

Flaska från SB som stått ett par år. En riktigt söt dessert-IS.
