Good Morning. You’ve woken up dead. You’re in ruins. But don’t be discouraged. Here’s a black stout to brighten your day. It’s deadly delicious with dark chocolate cake aromas and hints of dried fruit, licorice, and coffee. It’s a beast of a beer you’ll crave from beyond the grave.

Nitro pour at Leon’s Full Service, Decatur, Georgia. Very black (okay it is dark in here but I’m going for very black) with a huge tan head. Aroma is a bit light, as I often find with nitro pours: a bit of chocolate, vanilla, toffee, liquorice and maybe some oak. I like what is there, I just wish there was more of it. Sublime taste: sweet with a rebellious liquorice spiciness and a brandied booziness. There is a strong balancing bitterness, however; the beer keeps its complexity all the way to the long finish. Creamy as you like in the mouth. So nice.

Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a official black color with a thin eggshell white to sly tan foamy head that dissipates spectacularly in a film of a messy lace.
The aroma starts off with a balanced sweet milk chocolate to robust roasty coffee to sly sweet vanilla bean.
The flavor balances very nicely between the sweet to the roast with a semi-sticky malty to roasty aftertaste with a quick sly roasty/malty finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Low carbonation. For an RIS, this one had a super low booziness to it.
Overall, to me, I absolutely loved this beer. For the style, well, it’s damn good and would love to have again.

Nitro pour at Old Chicago-Lakewood (Union).Velvety pour, jet black with the appropriate silky head, Roast grains follow through from aroma to taste, some chocolate as well. So smooth, its easy to forget this is a 10% beer,

Bottle. Black body with a dense beige head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of vanilla pods, milk chocolate, raisins and biscuit. Flavour of cocoa powder and herbs with a peppery finish. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. Rich, creamy and very drinkable. I like these bottled nitro beers.

Bottle from a Lazy Dog Dark brown with faint garnet at the edges and a thin but long lasting tightly bubbled tan head. Rich coffee and chocolate with bits of caramel and dark sugar. Light fruity esters and bits of earthy hop and roasty bitterness round this out nicely. Creamy silky smooth mouthfeel. Nice beer, surprised I haven’t rated this before.

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Nitro version. Clear, dark ruby red. Thin, tight, lasting, tan head. Some legs. Foam slides slowly back down the glass after each sip. Big, fruit and nut chocolate. Soft, sweet fruit. Prunes and fig and such. Chocolate chip cookie malts. Smells great. Maybe on the sweet side but I’ll cope. Taste is brown sugar sweet. Some roast coffee dryness. Super smooth palate. Lots of stickage. Finishes long, dried fruit, cocoa bitter. It’s super drinkable, but it feels a bit widgety.
