Pineapple Coconut Honey Wine aged in Rum Barrels.

While fleeing from the armada to protect his treasured pineapple mead, One-Eyed Ian booty-trapped the mead with toasted coconut and hid it in a rum barrel. It is rumored that he killed all his men to keep them from getting his treasure. But the map to the rum barrel got out and the story was told. It was a rocky road, but we managed to overcome his booty traps. Behold the gem that saved the meadery from foreclosure... Not really, but it makes a good story. B. Nektar never says die!

Bottle courtesy of tkrjukoff. Pours tiny hazy golden leaving some legs on the glass. Smell is fruity with honey, pineapple juice, coconut milk, vanilla, charred wood, kumquats and lemon zest. Taste is sweet, slightly sour and heavy fruity. Mouthfeel is viscous, round, oily, tiny boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and fruity with honey, pineapple juice, coconut milk, charred wood, vanilla and rum alcohol. Simple piña colada mead. No added complexity beyond that. But who cares! It’s a fucking piña colada mead! --- Beer merged from original tick of B. Nektar One-Eyed Ian on 15 Aug 2015 at 21:26 - Score: 8
