33 cl. bottle @ ’t Brugs Beertje // 7 % Belgian Ale commissioned by Brugs Bierinstituut at the Proef // haven’t seen this anywhere else except @ ‘t Brugs Beertje & @ Brugs Beer Festival // assume that this is a very local beer // label is just the name in fancy Germanic letter type // reddish amber with an uneven off-white head // smells of sweet caramel, candy sugar, caramelized apple, caramel malts // taste is Belgian yeast, sweet caramel apples, candy fruits, caramelized brown sugar, dash coffee, bitter floral finish // bit too much carb. for me // much better than I expected this is quite good // definitely better & more memorable than the White Zwaan that they also commissioned, if you ever come across this, you might consider picking it up

Bottle, 75cl. There’s a few small floaties in this one, else it’s clear, with a dark amber body and a small but firm light beige head. The aroma has some toffee and a little bit of roasted malts, as well as both fresh and dried fruits. Mostly dried though. The flavor has a pleasant sweetness, with malts, roasted notes, dried fruits and some faint bitterness. Medium to full body, dry and pleasantly carbonated. There’s a more pronounced bitterness in the end, but still it can’t really be classified as bitter. Anyway, it’s a beer I wouldn’t mind drinking again, I like the way the flavors are integrated. 120218
