Margarita-style melomel
You see we’re putting this bottle out in the market, so if you could just go ahead and buy one, that would be great. Mmkay? Even Michael Bolton would be a fan of this Agave Mead with lime juice, lime zest and orange zest!

375 mL bottle from Oak Tree, S. Plainfield. Damn that was a stubborn cork. Pours a slightly hazy orange-amber color with very fine floating particles. Aroma of honey with lots of floral notes and an undercurrent of lime. The taste is honey, lime, candied citrus, faint agave and a very faint pithiness. Medium bodied. The flavors are very mild, and I’d almost like them to come out a touch more, but it’s still an excellent mead.

Pours clear very pale yellow color with no head. Aromas of agave and lime. Tastes like a margarita. Light to medium body with no carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel. Quite enjoyable if you like margaritas.

Poured up at the Oldsmar Tap House with crystal clear watery colored body and some nice legginess. The aroma is full sweetness, honey, sugary grapes, sugary raspberries and some ripe peach. The taste is typical yummy smooth velvety goodness with notes of honey, sugary sweet green apples and a sense of sugar coated peaches. Lingering behind in the background are mild notes of sweet berry juice.

Sampled at the 2010 GTMW. Poured a near clear gold with no head. Aroma was full of honey with a bit of a clashing agave note and a hint of lime. Flavor was similar with the agave growing toward the finish and melding a bit better. There was a bit of lime in the finish as well.

Bottle @ Miami Fandango ’10 gathering. Second B.Nektar thanks to Greg, tpd975. Pours viscous golden. Interesting idea of adding lime to the mead, nice mix the honey with lemon/orange giving the mead a very mild lime tart finish. As the mead warms up a little, the lime comes out more prominent and yet subtle. Love the idea but just wasn’t a big fan of the astringent side of the lime (even though it wasn’t too pronounced and ended up balanced out with the orange zest) mixed with the sweet honey profile.
