Poured from a 2013 vintage, 750 ml bottle. Aroma is malt forward with lots of caramel, toffee, toasted bread and lighter notes of nuts and biscuit. Medium light yam notes and hints of honey and maple. Light alcohol notes with a bot of bourbon notes and hints of oak. Pours a murky, auburn color with brown and ruby red hues and a medium sized, medium thick, tan head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers for a bit. Medium lacing and moderate length legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with lots of caramel, toffee and lighter notes of toasted bread, nuts and biscuit. Moderate bitterness and medium light alcohol notes. Medium light yam and spice notes with hints of maple and honey. Light bourbon notes and hints of oak. Spices seem to be cinnamon and nutmeg. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Light astringency and medium light alcohol notes. Overall, an odd beer. The flavor definitely hits what they were going for, but it is way thinner than I would have expected. Bourbon character is very light as well.
