Four thousand years before Christ, Sumerian women created the divine drink of beer. Viking women brewed in Norse society. European Ale Wives were so successful as cottage brewers they were taxed. Artisanal women lost their domination of the daily ritual of brewing during the Industrial Revolution. Today’s brewing trade is controlled by men.

The collaboration of two Craft companies both led by women, New Glarus Brewing and Weyermann Malting, is unique. You hold the result “Two Women” a Classic Country Lager brewed with Weyermann’s floor malted Bohemian malt and Hallertau Mittelfrueh hops. A tempting and graceful classic lager found…Only in Wisconsin!

Admin Note: Recipe changed in 2011 and is different than the 2010 version in 500ml bottles. This is now a year round release.

Bottle. A- Caramel, bread, malty, grains, subtle barnyard, straw. A- Copper color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Caramel, malty, biscuits, straw, subtle stone fruit. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- I didn't expect to really enjoy this a whole lot after seeing it was a lager, but I was happy to try it beings it was from New Glarus. Well, NG does lagers right, why can't they all be like this. Well balanced and while nothing stood out it was an easy drinking beer.

Golden with an off white head that disappears pretty quick. Its a little watery but decent flavor. Simple and mild malts. Light dotted lacing.

Pour is more of a bronze with a large white head. Aroma is sweeter malt and a bitter hop. Flavor is more on the sweeter side with an adjuncty feel on the back end. Clean drinking but a little too sweet for me.

Bottle from Woodman's. Pours a clear gold with a finger of white foam that lingers. Light dry malt notes with slight notes of dried honey along with grassy hop aromas. Crisp and dry on the palate with some sweetness underneath. More of the same on the finish.

This is a beer that has grown on me the more times I've tried it. True to style and easy drinking. Aromas are grassy, hops, crackers, dry grain. Mildly sweet up front balanced with good carbonation and some bitter. A little sweet again in the finish with good body.

RBJG2. Aroma is floury, creamy, wheat. Taste nice. Bit sweet, wheaty, easy drinking. Not one of my favourite styles but I liked it.

12 oz. can, pours a clear amber with a small off-white head. Nose brings out grainy notes, toasted malt, and some herbal notes. Flavour is fairly herbal and grainy upfront, with sweet cereal malts, a light herbal crunch, and a touch of bready caramel. A bit too malty and bready for what I seek in this style, but it's well-made.
