Brace yourself. Denogginizer is a massive Double IPA that’s sublimely hopped with an over-the-top dosing of dank, sticky, West Coast hops. With just enough malt backbone to keep the big, bold, resinous hop monster in check, be careful, you might lose your head to the Denogginizer.

Bottle from QClub at home. Clear deep amber copper pour with fluffy head. Aroma is big boozy hops - somewhat standard resinous DIPA. Pine resin, lemon, malty biscuit. Taste follows - deeply resinous hops, very bitter. Then some caramel maltiness. Boozy bitter finish with lingering warmth. Solid DIPA but not that original.

655 ml. bottle sampled @ Pure Apricot Tasting. Thanks! Orange, creamy little white head. Nose is touch iron, resin, sweet orange peel, caramel,..; Sweetish orange & iron taste, caramel, bitter marmalade, brown sugar, grapefruit, honey, bitter herbal in the back. Creamy body. Very nice but didn’t measure up with the better IPA’s we had at the same tasting.

22 oz. bottle purchased directly from the brewery and hand carried home. Bottle date of July 31, 2014. Copper color with decent head retention in a tulip glass. Aroma is candy sugar, tropical fruit and citrus notes.

The flavor is rather balanced. Sugar covered oranges and grapefruit from a sticky sweet malt character on top the the hops. This shows plenty of sweetness but the sweetness is cut by the bright bitter grapefruit, peach and the addition of some pine bitterness. The strong hops and sugar/ sweet malts is a near perfect balance. The over 9 % ABV was not found in the nose or flavor and it was easy for me to finish the 22 oz. myself. That is not always the case with any higher ABV brew. A little sweet but very tasty.

Overall I am very pleased with this brew and the entire lineup I sampled from this brewery. If your ever near San Leandro, this brewery should be on your radar.
