Brace yourself. Denogginizer is a massive Double IPA that’s sublimely hopped with an over-the-top dosing of dank, sticky, West Coast hops. With just enough malt backbone to keep the big, bold, resinous hop monster in check, be careful, you might lose your head to the Denogginizer.

Update July 2025: I had to re-rate this beer as I can’t believe the crap I wrote almost 12 years ago! 12oz can shared at Benny’s place in Kuala Lumpur. Poured a murky medium amber colour with a lasting frothy white head and some broken lace. The aroma is toffee caramel treacle. The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a smooth, rich, aromatic, dry, herbal, dank woody hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Over medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Original review: Bottle at Deano’s monthly tasting, September 2013. Poured a clear medium amber with a thin white head and some broken lace. The aroma is rich malty and alcoholic. The flavour is strong bitter, with bags of liqourice and alcohol on the super strong palate. Other friends loved this but it’s not for me. I like DIPA’s but this was a little OTT with not enough hops.

Bottle @ home. Clear medium to dark orange color, medium sized lightly creamy off-white to beige head that lasts for a decent while and leaves fair lacing. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, hops, pine, resin. Taste malts, loads of hops, resin, pine, lovely bitter, lightly fruity and a bit floral. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. This is a superb DIPA for sure! Very nice beer!

7/VIII/13 - 1Pt. 6 Fl. Oz. bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: n/a (2013-700)

Clear red amber beer, creamy irregular yellow head, pretty stable, adhesive. Aroma: honey, sweet malts, very fruity, toast, molasses, some citrus, sweet ripe apricots and red fruit jam (which you can often find in American barley wines). MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet sugary start, malts, honey, citrus fruits, grapefruit bitterness, bit grassy. Aftertaste: citrus, sweet honey flavours, pretty bitter, grassy notes, grapefruit, piny, passion fruit, sweet mango. Hell yeah, great stuff!
