KOMES PORTER reflects the history of brewing, referring to the 18th century tradition of brewing porters in the Baltic states. At their prime, Baltic porters represented one third of the market, which is the best evidence of their popularity. We offer you a well-balanced, dark, strong beer with a distinct flavour. Slow fermentation at low temperatures in open vats, coupled with long (at least 3 months) maturation have resulted in the beer’s character and complete, complex nature. The Porter’s bouquet matures further in the bottle. Time is on its side.

500ml bottle from Ebrowarium.pl.BBE 17.01.20. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma of rye bread, malts, earthy notes, hints of roastiness and syrup. Taste is syrupy, sweet and sticky with some rye bread, roasty malts and earthy notes. Finish is sweet, sticky and syrupy with some rye, earthy notes and stuffy roastiness. A bit unbalanced, too sweet and syrupy. Not very drinkable due to the sweetness.

500 ml. bottle @ Gollem. 2014 Vintage. BBF 01/06/2016. Black with a vanishing dark mocha head. Nose is coffee, thick lager, sweet spices, lightly herbal coffee, creamy rich sugary coffee, silky,… Taste is creamy lager, herbal coffee, light liquorish, faint anise, sweet bark, rich lush herbal silky creamy coffee, molasses, faint roast, very faint coca-cola in a good way, thick spices, very silky & lush thick lager body,… Very lush beer that smells of ancient style and makes me think of stylish 19th century descriptions from novels, a beer that recalls of old glories, a beer worthy of the term ‘world classic’, a highly impressive classic, easily best of the style that I have had. If not for the very steep price, I would have gotten a second one. (Had it a few more times, fresh, still very good, no noted but going to go from 4.8 to 4.6)

Bottle, 0.50l, courtesy of ElDesmadre. Cloudy almost black color with medium creamy light brown head and no fair lacing. Aroma of heavy roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, nuts and grassy hops. Taste starts with sweet and rich roasted malt, follows by coffee, chocolate and liquorice, while mouthfeel is warming alcoholic and spicy with mild bitter finish. Full body, creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. Wow, this one is hell of a rich winter warmer...
