KOMES PORTER reflects the history of brewing, referring to the 18th century tradition of brewing porters in the Baltic states. At their prime, Baltic porters represented one third of the market, which is the best evidence of their popularity. We offer you a well-balanced, dark, strong beer with a distinct flavour. Slow fermentation at low temperatures in open vats, coupled with long (at least 3 months) maturation have resulted in the beer’s character and complete, complex nature. The Porter’s bouquet matures further in the bottle. Time is on its side.

Achtung Lecker!

Pour from a bottle at Craft Brewed. Pours a pitch black with light purple highlights and small beige head. Notes of tobacco, plum, black currant and roasted cacao nib. Smooth on the palate with dark fruit and Ethiopian coffee cherry notes. Medium body/carbonation. Lingering plum, blackberry and dark chocolate. Very traditional Baltic and well done. --- Beer merged from original tick of Komes Porter Bałtycki on 23 Jun 2018 at 00:45 - Score: 7

Wet dog, beef jerky, tobacco, kibble, smoke nose. Oh my that's rich! Cloudy brown, thick tan head, nice lace. Tobacco, toasted brown bread, smoke. There's an elusive subtle treacle and blueberry undercurrent that is wonderful. Raisin and prune finish. Full body, soft carbonation. Well damn if that isn't one of the best beers I've had in awhile! Exemplary!

500 ml bottle into snifter, best before 12/25/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, nuttiness, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of smoke, leather, tobacco, molasses, licorice, toffee, vanilla, raisin, plum, cherry, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, nuttiness, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of smoke, leather, tobacco, molasses, licorice, toffee, vanilla, raisin, plum, cherry, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, nuttiness, toasted dark/brown bread, light smoke/dark fruit, herbal, leather, tobacco, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts and light earthy hop flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and zero acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Perfectly clean lager finish, never yeasty. Slightly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 9%. Overall this is a fantastic Baltic porter! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, clean, and dangerously easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Very rich, clean, and complex Baltic Porter malt profile; with mild earthy hop balance. Never overly roasty, minimal fruitiness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. One of the best I have ever had.

Medium beige head doesn't last. Opaque black body. Toasty roasty licorice aroma with toasted rice notes. Sweet roasty oily toast taste with mineraly notes. Full-bodied. Mild, soft, smooth mouthfeel. Sweetish toasty licorice aftertaste with earthy soy sauce notes. Very nice and highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle. Gift from wife, bought at airport in Gdansk, Poland.)
