Hoppy Feet has been lovingly crafted by combining premium malt with lots of Amarillo and Columbus hops. Grapefruit and Pine are balanced on the nose and on the palate by a nutty, dark chocolate, roasted backbone.

Bottle. Pine, grapefruit peel, and toffee malt aroma. Dark brown with small head. Sweet toffee malt and strong bitter pine and grapefruit peel flavor. Tasty and very hoppy.

Pours absolute black with a chunky, light brown head. Aroma is strong grapefruit peel and resin...licorice. Flavour is coffee..smothered beneath a deep, piney bitter....malty. Creamy, rich...chocolate subtleties. Really, really nice.

Opaque black - brown beer. Big fluffy pale tan head. Light crisp palate, a little dry. Light touch of dark malt, whisper of roast. Prickly pine hops with hops spice. Mild malt cream. Mild bitter linger. Not bad.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; pours almost black, creamy off white head, roast malt aroma which I fear in a BIPA, the hops are there in the taste but they are fighting to be known above the overwhelming roast malts. Fails as a BIPA but would win as a high IBU stout. The bottle date was 02/2012 so some of the hop resins could have dissipated.

It poured a pitch black and had a body of the exact same color. A small off-white/tan two centimeter head appeared and lasted for a good minute. The body was too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. Spider web lacing was seen spotting the sides of the glass. The smell was basically the coffee and the hops, combined very well. Some malts came in as the beer warmed. The taste had a creamy yet roasty coffee hoppiness to it. I’d say it was pretty good. The palate was about a medium to heavy with some creaminess coming through. Overall, this was a pretty good Black IPA or American Black Ale (whatever you want to call it). I’d get it again.

My US-beer # 100! 650 ml bottle, bottled 2/2012, poured in to a tulip. Pitch black with a larger, bubbly lightly tan head. Aroma with roasted malts, dark chocolate. Hops shows a resin, grapefruit and piney aroma. Taste is bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, and a lively carbonation. Finishes rather bitter with roasted malts, chocolate, a slight fruitiness. A good beer however, the similarity to a porter is bigger than to an IPA. Lacks a bit frutiness from the hops.

22 ounce bottle. Transluscent black, brown color topped by a massive rocky tan head. Aroma reminds me of freshly made chocolate milk made with Bosco’s chocolate syrup. Spicy cocoa malt and peppery hop nose invites me to take a sip. Wow! A huge roasted malt hop bomb explodes on the palate. Bittersweet chocolate and bitter hops dominate the first sip. Another sip or two seem to temper the hopshock this IPA brings. The dark malt backbone is definately second fiddle to the hops. Take your time with this one and enjoy it like a rare scotch; the more it warms, the more complex it becomes.

Tap. Pours clear reddish black with a medium tan head and good lacing. Aroma is caramel, citrus, pine and roasted malts. Flavor is about the same plus notes of coffee, lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Body is medium.

Pours a dark brown with nice-sized head. Aroma of hops and roasted grain. Flavor is dominated by hop-pine bitterness, with some touches of citrus and a toasted grain undercurrent. It’s really quite good.

Cask at Great British Beer Festival 2012, Olympia, London. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a small beige head on top. Hoppy, pine, citrus aroma. Tastes of grapefruit, pine, hoppy, bitter, chocolate. Not sure about this one, it is OK but I struggled to finish my half pint measure.
