Hoppy Feet has been lovingly crafted by combining premium malt with lots of Amarillo and Columbus hops. Grapefruit and Pine are balanced on the nose and on the palate by a nutty, dark chocolate, roasted backbone.

Bottle at Deano’s monthly tasting, September 2013. Poured a deep dark mahogany with a big frothy tan head. The aroma is hoppy and spicy. The flavour is medium bitter with a malty, spicy hop pepper, slightly watery palate. Very refreshing and tasty.

Bottle @ "Press Deans button tasting". Very dark brown to black color with a deep dark red glare coming through, medium to full sized lightly creamy light brown head. Aroma has malts, lightly roasty, nicely hoppy. Taste malts, roasted malts, nicely hoppy, long lingering bitterness. Good balance, medium body, medium carbonation. Very nice.

Bottle shared at the Press Dean’s Button tasting. Pours near black with a tan head. Aroma of roast, caramel, grassy hops. Flavour is light moderate sweet and heavy bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled 5/23/2013. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, orange zest, dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, pine, floral, grass, light char, light nuttiness, and roasted/floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with nice complexity and very balanced hop and roasted notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, orange zest, pine, dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, light char, toast, floral, light nuttiness, and roasted/floral earthiness. Good amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus zest, pine, dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, floral, light nuttiness, and roasted/floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice flavor balance of hop and roasted malt flavors with good complexity; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent black IPA. All around great balance of roasted malt and hop flavors with good complexity; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Hazy deep wine body, medium creamy beige head. Bitter nose, lots of pine, toast, and dark chocolate. Bitter, spicy body with prominent pine, char, and grapefruit rind, backed by modest chewy toasty, candy-like malt that opens up as the beer warms. A solid entry to the style.

From a 355ml bottle on 22/6/2013. Pours the darkest of amber with a biggish, fluffy head. Has a huge hoppy aroma, featuring pine and resin, along with some fruit and chocolate. This is a very intense experience in the mouth, with a huge hoppy, roasty lingering bitterness ultimately dominating the more subtle chocolatey, fruity flavours which present initially. The body is quite full and the carbonation medium. Comes across as a very big beer, with the huge bitterness likely to be too much for some. that said, it’s an impressive and challenging Black IPA for those who can’t get enough hops.

From a 22 oz bottle shared at home. Pours black with a thick tan head. Smoky aroma. Flavors of choclolate with some nice hoppiness. Bitter finish. This is one nice beer.
