Hoppy Feet has been lovingly crafted by combining premium malt with lots of Amarillo and Columbus hops. Grapefruit and Pine are balanced on the nose and on the palate by a nutty, dark chocolate, roasted backbone.

bottle at Ft Wayne tasting courtesy of thedm and hotstuff - Pours very dark amber with a small tan head. It has a roast malt aroma with some pine notes. The flavor is of dark roast malt with pine accented hop bitterness leading into a long, bitter, roasty finish. This medium bodied brew is very tasty and enjoyable.

Bottle thanks to BlackIPA. Pours black with tan head. Nose/taste of roasty chocolate malt, coffee, hops, pine and resin. Some grapefruit rind. Finishes dry pine wood and roasty black malt. Medium body.

Pours opaque black with a tan head. Roast malt, chocolate, espresso aroma. The flavor is bitter - both roast malt bitterness and hop bitterness that plays between the two. I call this one an American Stout.

Bottle. Almost completely black, gigantic beige ice cream cone head. Aroma of pine, melted chocolate, coffee. Taste is very roasted coffee grounds and black pepper. Very hi carbonation detracts from the flavor.

22 oz. bottle from Julio’s Liquor’s. Served in a standard pint. Deep brown nearly black. Small, thin tan head. Not much retention. Roasted malt, chocolate and some resin aromas. Medium body with flavors of grapefruit hops, citrus balanced with rich roasted malts. This was better Grand Teton Trout Hop and spent MUCH less on the bottle. Clown Shoes does well with hoppy brews styles.

Dark opaque brown color, small brown head. Light hoppy nose with toasted notes. Medium-bodied. Very hoppy, piney, woody flavor. Finish has some burnt espresso notes. Leans more on hoppy side.

Bottle: Poured a black color ale with a nice dark brown foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of light dry roasted malt notes with semi bitter hops profile. Taste is also a mix between some roasted malt notes with dry notes and some medium bitter hops flavours. Body is a bit light with good carbonation. Not bad though hops flavours could have been more upfront.

22 oz. bomber, $5.50 at Binny’s. I let this and the Clown Shoes 1.5 sit around since Aprill expecting to do a side-by-side. But let’s get serious. This one for Now, the other Later. So this kicks up a big head like some IPA’s do, but its slightly roasty in the nose like a stout. Solid black, they left it no doubt this was a "Black" IPA. Hops are still in the taste, though, or else they’ve gone far south. Hops have spread out and gone a little too herbal, on top of the high resin profile and then the large roastiness of the malt, there’s a package that does not quite appeal. Major roasty and bitter aftertaste after starting out rather interesting.

Bottle 22oz. Not sure it’s considered a black ipa. It is almost exclusively stout maybe even porter. A good beer but hardly a black ipa

Draught at Rattle ’N’ Hum, NYC, on January 30, 2012Clear dark red to black color, light brown head. Fruity, coffee, hoppy taste. Dry coffee aftertaste. Medium smooth mouthfeel, high bitterness. Coffee, green peppers, malty scent.Coffee is what stays behind in this one.
