Hoppy Feet has been lovingly crafted by combining premium malt with lots of Amarillo and Columbus hops. Grapefruit and Pine are balanced on the nose and on the palate by a nutty, dark chocolate, roasted backbone.

22oz bomber graciously shared by Anndiesel. Big minty chocolate aroma. Hop forward and quite nicely bitter. Not as cloying, syrupy, and thick as some of it’s peers. Classic balance between the grapefruit and chocolate flavors. Still chock full of specialty malt tones and flavors. It does have some nutty character as well. Overall a really solid example of the style.

Bottled@Cask Pub & Kitchen, London. Quite much pitch black colour, big beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, fruits, ashes, liquorice and some floral notes. Flavour is rather similar, with the roasted malts dominating. Fruity and ashy aftertaste.

Bottle courtesy of Jan & Charlotte, many thanks! consumed at home 28.12.11 Huge frothy head there are large cushions of tiny bubbles its like a mattress of bouncy foam. Nice slight citric nose. Soft in the mouth, dry & roasty, with a good hard coal like harsh bitterness, likeable, the citrus comes through, touch pithy, good. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Bottle @ Danish Summer Gathering, Ulfborg 2011. Dark brown with an average brown head, that is quickly reduced to a thin but dense one. Very citric hoppy aroma, some caramel and malt in the background. Hoppy taste of citric fruit , pine, some caramel malts. Nice but a bit one dimensioned.

Bottled at Cask Pub & Kitchen, London. Black, huge head. Aroma of licorice and citrus. Medium-full body with rounded mouthfeel. Heavy licorice, some sugar. Caramelly, blown up body, salty bitterness. A fairly big beer without much depth or complexity.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a bit of a cola coloured glow near the bottom of the glass and a large, three centimetre tall light brown head - looks simply great. Very pleasant aroma of fresh grapefruity and piney hops with a good roasted malt touch, some sweetness and at the very end - a slight hint of resin. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasty malt flavour up front with a good follow-up of fresh and potent cascade hops with a nice fresh grapefruit and citrus flavour. Aftertaste shows a bit of toffee and sweetness, but the bitterness really finishes it off with the hops really hitting home. Overall, a very well made black ipa showing a great balance and depth with the beer; A lot of good roasty malt tastes and the hops really come through - definitely worth trying this beer regardless if you like the style or not! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 20-July-2011 sampled at home in Washington on 11-December-2011.

Bottle at CPK, London. Thanks Per! Pours opaque, brown-balck with a large, tan head. Aroma doesn’t have a whole heck of a lot to offer, some moderate roast, faint hints of pine. Nice flavor, though not outstanding. Roasty, slightly rubbery malts, bits of pine, some earth. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Mild roasty finish, subtle peat and pine. Like a Black IPA lite. Not bad.
