Bottle. It pours a black body, next to black as the original sin, topped by a dense, finger-thick light tan head. The aroma has quite a lot of licorice, with alcohol, dark coffee, mocha, molasses hints and some berry kind of hints. Licorice, molasses, coffee and berry hints in the flavor, some alcohol warmth and bitterness. Full body with some warmth. Lasting finish. Perhaps a bit one dimensional, but it’s a fine brew anyway. 141228

At a tasting, many thanks DSG, zvikar and Ariel, very dark brown colour, small creamy head, aroma of dark bread, some charred wood and mushrooms, flavour of dark fruits, dark sour bread, some woodiness and coffee, quite strong sourness. Good and highly enjoyable.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Black with a big brownish head. Aroma oif roast, cocoa, a bit of coffee and some fruitiness. Bittersweet flavor, roasty, with dark chocolate, a bit of fruitiness and a bitter finish, slightly hoppy. Full-bodied, rounded mouthfeel. Very good stuff.

Tap at Max’s 4/27/14. Wow. This is phenomenal. The licorice and cranberry balance each other out perfectly. Sandy sugary chocolate. Wow. This is the best Imperial Stout I’ve had in a long time. Has a coffee touch. Excellent fluffy body, nice UK feel. Black licorice comes out the more you sip at it.

330ml bottle shared with jeevan. This is a dark fella for sure. Black, black, black. Aromas of liquorice and coffee. Taste has lots of big roasty notes, light fruit. Finishes dark and long. Great.

Keg at Mikkeller Bar, Stockholm. Opaque black, rich creamy beige head. Aroma of leather and espresso. Full nodied with rounded mouthfeel. Licorice, coffee and cream. Heavily roastiness lingers in a warming finish where everything else camouflages the bitterness.
