A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.
Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

On Tap at PreFunk Boise. Clear light amber with a thin fine off-white head. Light slight toasted malts. Just a little color. Smooth hoppy slightly resinous bitter bite. Actually quite subdued. Wouldn't be surprised if this was last years. Balanced and smooth. Surprised at its 10%+

Bottle (vintage 2016, 10,4%): Almost clear, golden to orangey coloured, smaller, but quite stable off-white head; solid sweet-bitter aroma of peppery, flowery and herbal-piney hops, balanced by honeyish malt and a little tinge of soy-sauce; solid bitter-sweet flavour, full bodied, what else; lingering and slightly drier, but still sweet and bitter, honeyish and piney and herbal finish with a warming alcohol-burn in the aftertaste. Great stuff, as always expected from Sierra...

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Almost clear dark amber with off white head. Toffee, light roasted nuts, dried red berries, mango, dried flowers, sweet wine gums, essential fruit oils. Quite fruity but in a dried and oily way with lots of thick sweet malts. Quite sweet and bitter. Almost full bodied. Not bad.

Bottle from Brause-Sydikat. Extreme intense viscous hop. Great floralness and depth. Fruits, hop oils, slightly fruity-sweetish, nice smooth grain, hints of sourness, moderate to intense bitter. Extreme hop fruity, pine, resin, green hops. Long intense floral sticky hop oily aftertaste. Great brew!

Clear amber, thick offwhite head. Aroma has malt, pine and peach. Strong, hoppy flavour. Piney, resinous with fruity peach and orange. Some sweetness and lasting bitterness. Slightly chewy. Warming. Very flavourful, strong but still well balanced.
