A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp (#19) brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas.
Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Bottle 355ml.Clear amber colour, white-yellowish big head, long with great lacing. There are sweet tropical fruits in aroma, fresh and intense, very nice to smelling. Additionally malty aroma like for barley wine, very nice as well. Bitterness is high with herbal character with alcohol hint at the finish. Full body, a bit dense, a little sweet from second site. Good balanced between bitterness and malty body. Warms inside but it’s quite drinkable when we look at the power of the beer. Very good imperial IPA, malty and bitter with fresh aroma of hops. Maybe one small minus for alcohol which is quite intense when beer gets warmer.

0.355 l bottle from ’Rudat’, bottled in June 2016. Clear, dark amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish, very fruity and a bit grassy aroma of pineapple, lemongrass, lychee, tea leaves and a touch of pine. Very sweet and malty, quite fruity, resiny and a bit grassy taste of orange jam, tea leaves, honey, pine, mango, pineapple and some lemongrass, followed by a rather long, quite bitter, very resiny and a bit dry finish. Full body, very oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Expected maybe the aroma to be even hoppier, but the bottle is unfortunately almost half a year old. Great beer though!

Bottle. Clear reddish-amber color with eggshell head. Aroma is piney, earthy, hops, some grapefruit, berries, caramel, toffee. Taste is sweet toffee, piney hops, bittersweet finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Not bad, a bit imbalanced.

Bottle @ Vinens Verden, Odense. Pours hazy dark orange with a creamy white stable head. Mild yeast- baking dough, lots of piney and grapefruity hops. Petroleum. Sticky sweet and bitter finish with a bit of alcohol warmth.

12 fl.oz bottle. Pours clear dark golden colour with a huge most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of bitter resinous hops, apricot and peach, pine, toasted malt. Taste of intense bitter hops, resins, apricot, spruce, toasted malt, strong malt, quite nice!

12oz bottle from Elizabeth Station. Bottled on 27-Apr-2016. Pours a murky dark golden with a huge white head. Aroma is sweet tropical fruits, candied citruses some plums and resin. Same character sweet and bitter taste and aftertaste. Hoppy bomb! Slightly too sweet even for me, but still excellent!

Bottle from AEON liquors in Asagaya. Pours a clear copper with a finger of beige head that dissipates fairly quickly. Honey, booze and earthy resinous hops in the nose. Bitter on the palate with toasted caramel, bread and a lingering resinous bitterness. Slightly warming finish as well.
