Brekle’s Brown has a coppery brown color and unusual depth of flavor with hints of citrus which makes for richness and complexity without heaviness. The classic, all-malt, single-hop American brown ale.
Trivia: in 1871 brewer Gottlieb Brekle arrived in San Francisco from Germany. He purchased an old beer-and-billiards saloon near Russian Hill and transformed it into the little craft brewery that — twenty-five years later — would be renamed Anchor.

The beer starts smooth malty. Nice brown aroma with a not too sugary sweetish brown body. Fresh but not too seep. Easy to drink, fresh, smooth. Sugary but quite dry aftertaste, not too much bitterness, caramel, hints of floral hops, nice.

Mycket gott!

355 ml bottle. Pours a clear, reddish brown with a large, long lasting, beige head that laces. Roasted malt aroma with caramel, overripe fruit and citrus. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, caramel, overripe fruit and nuts with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. A little weird for a brown ale, but nice.

Dark brown, reddish hue, medium- strong tan creamy head, not very lasting. Aroma is caramel, toffee, nutty, some fruits, sweetish. Taste is medium sweet caramel, toffee, nuts, some toasted and fruity notes, low+ herbal hoppy bitterness. Roasty bitter dry finish. Medium bodied and carbonation, slightly creamy.

Bottle at home. Has a slightly hazy reddish brown color with a big, creamy beige head. Sweet aroma of caramel, raspberries, dried fruit, wood chocolate, plums and heather honey. Feels pretty Belgian. The flavor is quite fruity with additional tones of licorice, leather, pine and grass. A touch of alcohol as well. Has a medium body and a slick mouth feel. Low to medium bitterness. A fruity brown ale that changes between being a Belgian dubbel and a brown ale but the hops are lurking in the background.

Sabrosa, diferente. Merece.
