Pours pitch black with good lacing and head. Initial aroma of booze and whiskey-like malt. Comes off a little sweet in finish. Creamy texture. Light roast malt in aroma with some coffee. On tap at St. Augustine’s.

Draught at St. Augustine, Vancouver; listed at 8% ABV
Black color, with a nitro-like creamy head. It has a mild aroma of roasted malt. Nice roasted malt and black chocolate flavor, with some residual sweetness (that is a nice complement); smooth mouthfeel; good bitterness level.
Not complex, but pleasant.

On tap many times, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, licorice, chocolate and oatmeal - some sweetness. Flavour of light licorice, roasted malt, chocolate, and a perfect touch of sweetness. Full-bodied and well-rounded. This is one of best local beers for sure.

Dark brown colour. The aroma is somewhat light. The flavour is lightly earthy, with only a hint of roast. There is a slight chocolate note, still a hint of diacetyl despite the yeast change. It’s not my favourite, and next to the Yaletown Velvet it was not even in the same sport.
