A twist on a traditional English Pale Ale. English pale and caramel malts combined with the spicy, citrusy, and floral notes of the North American Hop gives this ale a very distinct sensory profile.

Cask - Sweet orange and tropical fruit. Cloudy copper with a decent beige head. Muted tropical fruit, some Woody notes and a dry bitter finish. Smells divine, but cask kills the brightness of the hops. This is pretty normal and unfortunate.Earlier Rating: 12/14/2014 Total Score: 3.2Cask - Pale malts and some vegetal notes. Cloudy copper with a nice beige head. Nice light malts, light bitterness and a long finish. Very classic English style pale.Earlier Rating: 9/6/2013 Total Score: 3.4Draft - Grassy, grains and a bit of malt. Clear dark copper with a thin head. Dark malt, grain and a bitter finish. Hazy amber, hoppy-toasty aroma, mellow bitterness, lots of caramel sweetness, not particularly bright. I like Powell a lot, but this isn’t one of their better beers.

650 ml bottle. Pours a mahogany color with medium head and nice lacing. Aromas of pine and toffee. Flavors of grapefruit, spruce, light caramel and toasted hops. More of an IPA. If so quite nice though light.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a murky orangey amber with a small beige head. Aroma of soap, like walking into the Body Shop, not much else on the nose. Flavour tastes cosmetic as well, with soap, weak floral notes, and perfume. Drinks easily enough, but is a bit soapy. Decent enough, but average and uninspiring.

Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Hazy dark amber color, with small compact head. The caramel aroma is mild, sweet, fruity, with some beeswax, perfumy; very interesting. The mouthfeel is not too dry, but lean; good flavor of caramel (it reminds me a bit of the steinbier caramel), followed by a light sweet and fruity character; the hop provides something more, also a light resiny touch; correct bitterness level; the final is correctly bitter and long, but lacks a bit of character.
Good beer, very clean.
