The Moinette Brune is a top fermentation beer with refermentation in the bottle.
Since its creation in 1986 this beer becomes more and more famous.
A melange of 4 special malts results into this unusual colour, light darkbrown going into russet. The aromas of hop and special malts are creating the dominating taste in this beer.
The Moinette Brune combines a slightly bitterness with a fruity touch.
A real refermentation in the bottle, which will continue for many months in your cellar, will transform this product into a quite surprising beer.

0.33 l bottle from 'SpeciaalBierPakket.nl', bottled in 2024. Slightly hazy, very dark ruby with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity and a bit yeasty-spicy aroma of cocoa, caramel, raisins, figs and hints of coconut. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently yeasty-spicy, slightly fruity and minimally roasty taste of caramel, clove, cocoa, raisins, figs and a touch of coconut, followed by a short, moderately bitter, a bit dry finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Well-balanced Dubbel, quite good for the style.

Malty aroma of brown sugar, dark fruits, yeast, caramel, raisins. Flavour is sweet malt, brown sugar. All things considered this has a surprisingly moderate/medium sweetness, with some lingering bitterness in the aftertaste.

April 2015: Shared 330 ml bottle at local tasting. Brown colour, off-white head. Moderate aroma, hints of brown kandij sugar and herbs. The flavour is more defined, brown kandij sugar without being too sweet, herbs and hops. Nice enough.

Bottle from Dranken Vandewoude, Veurne, Belgium. A dark ruby/brown coloured pour with a medium off white/beige head on top. Yeasty, malty, caramel, dark fruit taste/aroma. Not had this for many years, a lot sweeter than I remember. Decent enough gear from Dupont.
