Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a semi-dark amber color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a decent pace. Some light stringy lace.
The aroma had some dark fruits, clean caramel/toffee malts, subtle citrusy hops and some leather.
The flavor was malty sweet through the prior mentioned aromas to guide on into the aftertaste in the same way. Finish was somewhat quick and malty.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, pretty good amber ale I think I could try again if offered.

Bottle thanks to Dusan & Simona. Lightly medicinal phenolic, other than that hops centered, thin body, high carbonation. Resiny piney hops.

Bottle from Theatre of Wine, Greenwich. Reddish-brown pour with a beige head. Aromas of toffee, burnt caramel, chocolate raisin and black cherry. Flavours of toffee, caramel, dark berries, sweet tobacco. Malt laden finish.

33cl bottle into a Chimay chalice at home on 10th Sep 2015. Cheers son for winning this for me. Off white topping to a reddy brown body. Malty, yeasty nose, Belgian like in fact. Some hop bitterness arrives in the aroma once the maltiness has elapsed a little, or I got used to it. The taste is also malts first with the hops coming through later, mild yeast presence in the background. Highly carbonated, a little too much for me to be honest, almost ’fizzy’ in nature. Dry finish to the taste, but the hop bitterness does not linger, the malts come strong again towards the end.

330ml bottle from Seijo Ishi in Shinjuku station. Poured into a shaker pint. Deep amber and rich brown color with a nice tan head. One of the darkest ambers I have experienced. Nice lacing for an amber. Nice prune, raisin aromas on the nose with vanilla, cinnamon, cardamon, toasted malt and caramel undertones. A bit of resin and pine needles come through as well. Nice balanced between malt sweetness with a touch of bitterness from the hops. Very well-balanced amber. Medium body with a nice medium dry finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Hitachino Nest Amber Ale on 26 Oct 2015 at 23:59 - Score: 7

Appearance is fairly dark amber and very clear. One finger pillowy off-white head which clings to the glass. Aroma- plenty of malt, cereal, fruity, hops, raisin. Taste- fruit, orange, bitter hops, caramel and toffee undertones, medium mouthfeel, satisfying finish. Very tasty.
