Cask @ West Riding Rooms, Dewsbury. Slightly hazed reddish-brown, but more red with a thick frothy head. With its carbonation it feels a little lager like, although it’s slightly more ’ale’ in its texture. Its chocolate is mostly evident in its aroma, although it’s there in small quantities in its taste.

Bottle at Taps beer bar, KL. It pours deep red with a small off-white head. The nose is toasty, earth, caramel, dried fruits, light spice, wood and resin. The taste is crisp, malt-driven, dark fruits, toasty, caramel, cherry cola, decent bitterness, resin, light pepper with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Bitterness carries the malt through, but it is still a bitter sticky on the mouth-feel. Alright.

330ml bottle. Very nice, clear, ruby reddish dark amber colour with average, frothy, minimally lacing, off-white head. Piney herbal hoppy aroma, caramel malty background with a nuttily touch. Taste is minimally sweet caramel malty with a nuttily touch, piney, and herbal hoppy overtones, a fruity touch of cherries.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a deep chestnut brown colour with a frothy white head and loads of lace. The aroma is rich red berry fruit yeast and spice. The flavour is medium bitter with some fruit, peppery spice and liqourice on the palate. The finish is smooth and bitter with a little malt. A super beer I must say.

33cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours dark amber with a nice red hue. The nose has delicate caramel malt with just a hint of something red and fruity. The taste has sweet red malt with a biscuity bitterness just following it up, something creamy in there too. The palate is just about medium bodied with a creamy texture and a lovely balanced biscuity finish. Overall, great beer - well put together.
