Carling Black Label developed as a brand in 1927 from the Canadian brewery Carling O’Keefe's existing Black & White Lager. It was introduced into the UK in 1952. The brand became hugely successful in the UK via a very popular ad campaign with the slogan "I bet he drinks Carling Black Label". The name changed from Carling Black Label to Carling, with the subtitle Original Lager, in 1997.

Golden liquid, rocky head. Light body. Aroma: bread, grains, hay, butter. Light sweet taste, watery finish. You get what you expect: a lager to quench thirst. Nothing special but a fair brew without real failures.

Can from Sytembolaget Hansacompagniet, Malmö. Clear yellow with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty and light hoppy - grass. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Dry and light bitter finish. Not as bad as expected. 180813

Keg at the Oval during Surrey’s T20 victory over Kent, 26/07/13 plastic pint glass - with non spill lid ! Light golden with a big creamy white head, some carbonation evident. This actually looked good! Nose is pale malts, cereals, light citrus, pretty blando. Taste (less) continues the theme, the blandometer is in the red ! Vague citrus, corn, light sugar. Medium bodied, light spritz, crispish finish. Pretty cack as you’d imagine.

33 cl can. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is toasted malty and light grassy. Cornish, grassy and light butterish and toasted malty. Toasted malty and light cornish finish.

Keg. Gassy, golden amber colour, creamy foam white head leaving some lacing and aroma of grain. Taste is malt, grain, corn, alittle fruitiness, metallic, cardboard and biscuity bitterness. Watery, light bodied, high carbonation. Bland lager.
