Sample at Barley Hopsters. Murky brownish-amber color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Patches of lacing. Aroma of malt, pine and hops. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, resiny hops and citrus. The finish is malty up front with a piney hop aftertaste. Above average overall.

Draught as part of a flight, at the Renegade tap room, on October 6, 2012Murky brown color, tan to light brown head. Sweet, malty, fruity, grainy scent, wonderful, I could smell this all night. Sweet, malty, hints of spices taste. Warming alcohol. Medium to spritzy mouthfeel, medium high bitterness.

(Note - I believe there has been a recipe change since this beer was first entered, as the board at the brewery listed this at 9.7% abv and 100 ibu - either that or whomever entered the original entered it incorrectly) Tap at Renegade - turbid, almost milky - dark amber pour - seems almost like a Bigfoot clone - very hoppy american barleywine, some some sticky toffee on the approach, light raisin, a bit of plum - middle and finish are all earthy, woody, moderately bitter hops - lacks some depth, but still an enjoyable American b wine.
