0.75 l bottle from ’belgiuminabox.com’ at 6% abv, bottled in February 2015. Clear, golden amber with a massive, foamy, almost stable, white head. Sourish-fruity, very herbal, quite dusty and moderately funky aroma of lemon, lots of gooseberry, massive basil, oak and some barnyard. Rather sour, fruity, quite dusty, moderately funky and very herbal taste of lemon, gooseberry, lots of basil, massive oak and some barnyard, followed by medium long, rather tart and very dry finish. Medium body, spritzy, very effervescent and quite astringent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. This is sublime! Not only that the characteristics of Lindemans shine unmistakably through, but the basil flavours match so well with the lambic. I also don’t get why some people say it would be difficult to finish the bottle on your own, because it is very quaffable and refreshing in my opinion, not as puckeringly sour as Timmermans for example.

750 ml bottle @ Nacht van de Grote Dorst 2016. Almost clear golden body with a dense, lacing white head. Aroma has some fruitiness, classic funky Brett, but the basil dominates totally, at least it feels that way. Expecting some light spicy basil aroma and flavor in the background and then be taking totally by surprise with this basil bomb! Lots of basil in the flavor as well, but I suspect a lot of this actually comes from the aroma. It’s not bad, but very close to “way too much”, still interesting enough to be stuck with this bottle for a little while and drinking a few more glasses without really be able to decide if it’s a success or not. The lambic is there, no doubt, its funky, tart and acidic with some lemon and citric fruit, but the basil is disturbing the experience a bit. Still, when buying a bottle of basil Lamic I suppose you should expect basil in the nose and taste. Sure interesting, but I probably would not by it again.

75cl bottle @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury all to myself. Pours gold with a light haze and medium, fast-receding off-white head. Aroma is beautifully enticing with floral summer meadow, light fresh basil & herbs. Taste is crisp and sharp, just like Rene Oude Gueuze, with a great complex sweetness. Notes of parma violets, fresh picked herbs, basil, sweets, some funk and a wooden tang. This just ticks all the boxes for me. A great, expertly blended gueuze with complex sweet flavours. Incredible beer. What the hell, lets give this one a high score!

Big white head. Clear deep yellow body. Funky floral basil aroma with plasticky notes. Huge aroma, yet harmonic. Sweet-acidic oily olive basil taste with grassy herbal notes. Whoa. That’s a lot of flavour. Mid-bodied. Sharpish, fizzy mouthfeel. Acidic funky basil aftertaste with grassy parsley notes. Extremely interesting, and very powerful flavours. The basil does overwhelm the gueuze a bit, and I could have wished for less of it, but this is still a fascinating beer. I gave it extra points for interest. (0.75l bottle, from wine monopoly, Storo.)

let’s start with this as the most important (master)piece of an excellent beer tasting with Kapusil and Cristobal - this was the 1000th beer of my great friend, Kapusil :-) hazy golden to orange colour, moderate sized white head; aroma of intensive basil, some celery, lemongrass, and wine cellar notes; taste of a great geuze with intensive basil notes - very acidic and pizza-like; this is definitely one of the weirdest beers I’ve ever tasted, but still very good Many thanks for the opportunity to taste it with you, guys! :-)

0.75l bottle. Hazy orange body, white head. Huge notes of basil in the aroma with notes of lemon zest, bread and lemon juice. Taste of basil again, with lemon juice, lemon zest, bread and some cheese. Very exciting and interesting beer. Not something I would drink everyday though. Still awesome. Rating no 1000 btw :-)

Bottle. Pours clear golden, with a big creamy head. Aroma is nice, tart lambic notes of fruit peel, musty citrus, bretty wood, farmyard and cork, as well as shitloads of basil. Medium body, with average carbonation. Flavour is tart musty fruity, bretty wood and farmyard, as well as herbal notes of basil. Lingering tart and bretty finish. The basil touch works very, and somewhat surprisingly well on top of the funky lambic notes.
