Bottle from Tanakaya shared at au revoir tokyo at Gremlin. Basil bomb upon opening. Some light lemon as it warms but mostly just basil and herbal notes. A little oak on the palate with more basil and a tad sweet with the usual lambic woody and musty notes. Not bad, but really wish I had paired this with a tomato pasta or some pesto or something. A fun beer for sure though that is best shared.

Bottle(750ml): Golden (not green...), slightly hazy, smaller loose white head; pretty solid nose of basil, basil and basil, gueuze flavour like citrus, sour apples and cellary notes, are detectable underneath; solid dry sour flavour with a secret sweetness, medium bodied and tart ; lingering sour fruity finish, again dominated by basil aromas. Hardly enjoyable, but maybe the right basis for an exciting Tomatenlambik...

750mL bottled September 2015, drunk 9/9/16.
Basil rises up swiftly and aromatically as soon as it’s uncorked, but it’s real, bright and spicy and cut with some bacterial acid and a "tea-like" aroma that give it an almost vinous quality.
The beer shows a high clarity and bright golden body with a light beige head fading steadily to cover.
With some significant breathing, the basil becomes much more integrated in to the rest of the nose, which has strong pepper, wood, tea and light citrus elements. It’s quite dainty, fun and a bit novel, to be sure, but doesn’t bludgeon you with the basil, which also, as mentioned before, comes off fresh, real and well-extracted/macerated/dry-herbed. Not exactly bursting with intense lambic character though there are brett notes and light earth. No alcohol or flaw.
Spicy, rather light-hearted and with big herbal-tea meets wood and kumquat flavors. Light maltiness offsets a very high effervescence, but it’s fairly engaging and the attenuation is still fairly strong. Split a 750mL two ways and never felt any palate fatigue from the basil, by the end. The moderate acidity, citrusy-tea character and tight carbonation helping much with that. That being said, this has pretty minimal lambic character currently (with a year in the bottle even), but hopefully some more develops as the basil fades over time. Certainly seems worthwhile to store a bottle.

Bottle shared by MrHoppy. Thanks man! It pours a clear orange color with a white head. The aroma is bright and minty with basil and orange. Very fresh and potent. The flavor has more orange with a little mint and basil. Nice clean sourness. A super interesting beer, and definitely lambic-like.

A 0.75 l bottle poured a hazy yellow body with a small head. Pesto Genovese aroma, very intense, overwhelming the lambic note leaving just a little lemony touch. Flavor was sour, but not much, very spicy with basil/pesto but still more balanced with nice tart lemon, green apple and other lambic notes and surprisingly some vague hop bitterness. Tasty, wonderful, full bodied and pretty complex with long pleasant tart, spicy and herbal finish. Basil itself made complexity high due to various interaction with lambic flavors I guess. What a combination, who would say, I just missed some spaghetti here.

Enormous thanks heavy for sharing this with us! Misty golden body with a medium white head. Enormous, huge, wonderful basil aroma, full on pesto blast that got me slightly craving just that. So pesto with some citric touches. Superb. Spicy basil notes in the taste going into a medium tartness, ending dry, slightly spicy. Wow. pesto meets lambic. And it actually worked. Great job Lindemans & Mikkeller, what an idea!
