Bottle at Erzbierschof Monday Club. Pours cloudy amber. Aroma is basil, funk, farmhouse, mint, elderflower. Body is light, tart and sour, fizzy carbonation, still basil and soft vinegar. Lingering farmhouse palatez but still dry. Very good!

29-04-17 // bottle shared at Le Petit Belge, Wiesbaden. Light hazy golden orange beer. Small white head. Nose is intense basil, pestolike. Taste is dry and tart, light crisp, medium sour, herbal, loads of basil. Great.

(bottle, 75cl) Slightly hazy, pale golden colour with a non-persistent frothy white head. Distinctive notes of basil, also a touch of chlorophyll and nettles, accompanied by hints of acidity and barnyard. Sour-tart flavour, light to medium bodied with a mild carbonation. Mildly funky Lambic character with present notes of basil, which overpowers many other flavours, accompanied by notes of citrus and nettles; quite dry and basil-laden finish. A tad strange, too much of basil for my kind of taste. Might work perfect as a food pairing. 30.IX.16

750 ml bottle corked and capped green bottle, bottled September 2015, about a year and a half ago. What kind of a fruit is basil? Aroma is holyfuckingshitbatman, very basil. Like sticking your nose into a freshly chopped pile of basil. It’s peppery, anise, floral--basically it’s basil. It overpowers anything else that might be lurking in the aroma. Pours hazy orange with a decent off-white head with good retention and some lace. Taste is sour (8/10) with lots of basil flavor, some lemon. Carbonation is verging on champagne-level. Very interesting for a lambic brewery to branch out into something this experimental. I love the concept, although high quality typical fruit and gueuze lambics ultimately taste better.

Bottle through a trade, the first batch I believe. Finally I’ve got pizza to pair with this Mikkeller/Lindans Spontanbasil. The beer is a crystal clear copper color with a filmy beige head. The aroma is an incredibly aromatic basil/mint. Fairly full bodied with a dry finish. Peppery, basil and tangy fruits with decent acidity.

Paired with pizza, the lambic cuts through the sweetness of the tomato sauce. The malts play off the pizza dough and it is just all in all an excellent pairing. On it’s own I found it a touch briny.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L’s place. Thanks Tom L. Murky golden. Strong herbal aroma with basil, funk, green tea, oak. Sour flavor, funky, with basil, oak, lemon. Medium-bodied, lively carbonation. Really good.

Capped 750 from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours bright gold with a white head. Aroma is very basil. Med body or so. Flavor is quite basil with a nice lambic sourness. Lindemans is so great at lambics. Quite amazing stuff. Sadly I’m not having pasta with marina tonight. Bet it would go oh so well with that. Pretty dry, pretty basil, pretty moderately sour. Excellent.
