Classic heavy bittersweet ‘Imperial Stout’ with a touch of ‘Rooibos’, 11% vol.

Sans Pardon is one of the toughest full malt beers from the brewery. Black as the night, with a creamy head. The high alcohol content complements the coffee and chocolate aspects in the beer. The ‘Rooibos’ gives the beer that extra touch of fruitiness. Sans Pardon the tastiest.

From the bottle. Virtually black with a foamy beige head that quickly turns thin but lingers. Aroma of chocolate with soy sauce/oyster sauce undertones. Taste is sweet, full of fudge and licorice. Goes a bit salty near the end and finishes warm and dry, with a light spice. Body is medium but lighter than usual for the style, a bit oily, carbonation is soft. Good.

330 mL bottle, bought at the Bier Tempel in Brussels. Pours black, with a small, bubbly, brown head. The aroma is bitter chocolate, mild coffee, orange peel, maple, toasted oak, pine, and light coconut. Sweet and syrupy, with a sharp, pleasant bitterness. Heavy body, with a sticky, grainy feel. This is a wonderfully complex, nicely balanced, and thoroughly enjoyable stout.

From a 33oml bottle on 12/5/2018. Pours a deep brown with almost no head. The nose is dominated by milk chocolate. The flavour is much the same - sweet milk chocolate, lactose, vanilla and a touch of caramel. The bitterness is lightly roasty, and slightly tart and spicy. Slightly creamy texture with softish carbonation. Drink lighter than 11%. A simple, but delicious, and beautifully balanced impy.

Zwart bier met bruin schuim. Smaak is krachtig en warm, bitter en licht zoet met iets van bittere chokolade, koffie en port.
