Bottle at Craig’s. Pours black, nose is roast malts, fruity, taste is a bit fizzy, chocolate, roasty, sweet.

Keg at De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 25/09/14. Pitch black with a good sized tan head that retains well. Nose is bitter roast, earthy, mineral notes, cocoa rub, charr. Taste comprises earthy tunes, bitter roast, spice, light pine, cocoa powder, dark red berries. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a roasty blast. Ok CDA.

[9/25/14] Draught at In De Wildeman in Amsterdam. Black with a beautiful thick creamy brown head. Pleasant aroma of roast, coffee, a bit of cocoa and piney and “green” hops. Flavor starts a bit sweetish with some chocolate, continues bittersweet with roast and then onto a bitter finish with piney and slightly citric hops, coffee and a burnt touch. Quite rounded and full-bodied. Very good and complex, feels like a hoppy Imperial Stout.

Bottle picked up from the other bottle shop in Bodegraven, consumed at Camping Het Rieven, Landsmeer, nr Amsterdam, Netherlands, Saturday 27th September 2014. Pours black with a huge billowing foamy tan head. Quite thick pouring, a little oily. Bitter and roasty, very hoppy, fresh oily, green bitter hops with a real linger. Really like this, no unecessary sweetness this us full on hard core hoptastic. A8 A5 T8 P4 Ov17 4.2

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein schwarzes Bier mit geringer bräunlichen Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr schokoladig, röstmalzig, Kaffee. Geschmack sehr röstmalzig, Schokolade, Kaffee, bitter hopfig im Abgang.

Black with coffee coloured, lacy head. Nice aroma with roasted malts, some hoppiness too. Strong tasting but nice balance.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 26 Feb 2014) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, grapefruit and a touch of mint. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with black coffee, dark chocolate, pine needles, grapefruit and a fairly dry finish with a generous piney bitterness. More than medium body, quite dry. Very tasty and solid black IPA. Lovely beer.
