Wiru Juniper Beer has born from the old tradition of islands and coast areas to add juniper to beer to get special flavour. For centuries, Virumaa’s coasts have offered natural possibilites to prepare juniper beer. Slight juniper smell and taste in Wiru Juniper Beer make it a manly sauna drink which is suitable to be enjoyed in many other occasions also.

Wiru Kadakaõlu is nominated the title of The Best Alcoholic Drink in Estonia in 2009

500ml brought to our Baltic Beer session in Tromsø 27.Oct.09 from Tallinn. Pours a golden colour, with spare head and lacing. The juniper and resin is noticeable in both aroma and flavour. It is particular, but refreshing and interesting; Without a doubt an exiting and suitable choice to bring to the sauna or banya.

500ml bottle shared at the grand rating session of Estonian beers in Tromsø. Golden body, quickly diminishing, white head, reduced to a filmy layer. Smell of juniper and resin. Pronounced taste of resin and juniper berries, but shortage of hops. Thin to medium bodied. Quite refreshing. Unusual tasting beer, with some interests (Thanks to Stefan and Elisabeth for the bottle, 27.10.2009).

Medium white head doesn’t last. Yellow body with light carbonation. Full malty grassy aroma with papery caramelly notes. Dry resiny grassy taste with peppery herbal notes. Mid-bodied. Smoothish mouthfeel. Dryish sulphury grassy vegetable aftertaste with malty notes. (0.5l bottle from some store in Tallinn.)

(Bottled BB 02/2009). My Estonian beer rating number 100. Pale yellow color, small white head. Cardboard and strong juniper aroma. Harsh malty, a bit juniper spicey but mostly a normal unbalanced Wiru pale lager. Cardboardish hops.

Bottle, 5%. Pine aroma? Pale yellow colour, white head. Grassy and piney hop flavour. I wonder what kadaka is. All else is standard macro lager. But not bad.
