Bottle @ Dolleshomealonetasting, Odense, Feb 15. Pours black with a small creamy beige head. Coffee, roast, vanilla and chocolate and mild chili. Smooth and slick. I really dig this. The softness and flavors are incredible!

Black with a small off-white head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla and green peppers. Sweet roasted flavour with a little too much green pepper character. Nice little hot spicy bite in the finish

Bottle @ Kristrup tasting. Pours pitch black with a brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, roasted malt, coffee, rich dark chocolate, light chilli, light rum, light spice notes. Flavor is light sweet, malty, chillies, dark chocolate, wood, cedar, rum, light coffee, spice, pepper, some alcohol. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, light sweet finish with some light chilli heat, a touch of warming alcohol. 310115

Bottle at Churchkey courtesy of me! Thanks. Bottle suggested by Eric. Seemed to fit in with the Ales from the Darkside theme at one of CK’s frequent events. Poured into 8 shot glasses and shared around. Color of 10W/40. Aroma of fruity burnt espresso. Taste is big woody, tannic burnt coffee with a subtle edge of pepper. Decent. Big.

Very nice. I like rum and I like bomb so this is good for me. Pours black with good head and lacing. Some spiced twist here. Rum dark chocolate and espresso. Some wood. Bitter finish with some booze. Thick pour verging on syrupy but surprisingly unboozy tasting for style. Bottle at Churchkey thanks to Travlr.

On tap at Schouskjelleren, Oslo. Pretty much black body, at least that’s what it looks like in the basement. Beige head. Lovely complex aroma with vanilla, roasted malt, cocoa and hints of coffee, toffee and more chocolate. Sweet and extremely flavourful with nice roasty notes, hints of wood snd vanilla and a certain chili sting in the end. Well balanced, smooth and simply delicious!

Craft Islington. Keg. Opaque black beer, small tan head. Palate is viscous but with good fine carbonation. Mild emulsion paint esters. Rich dark malts. Spicy mid but the heat doesn’t linger. Touches of dark chocolate and coffee. Smooth finish. A mild repeat of the spice on the linger. It’s pretty drinkable for a 15% beer but other than that the top 50 status of this one is beyond me, the volume is turned up to 11 but it’s straight 3 chord progression playing!

Rate No 400. 355ml bottle at home, bought from the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Pitch black color with nice small brown head. Aroma is roasted malty, chocolate, cocoa, dark fruits, spicy, light vanilla, wood, light herbal, light alcoholic. Taste is sweet and bitter like the aroma with the addition of coffee. Full body almost creamy with sot carbonation with bitter burning spicy aftertaste.

Bottle courtesy of winter santa 14/15. Thank you RobertDale. Pours oily pitch black with a small creamy dark mocha head that leaves some sparse trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty, roasty and spicy with roasted malts, burnt caramel, ancho chile, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, dark roast coffee, raisins in rum, burnt wood, vanilla hard candy, prunes and hints of hay. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and tiny spicy with roasted malts, caramel, toffee, charred wood, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, burnt raisins, arrack, vanilla, ancho chili, cinnamon, moist soil, hay and alcohol. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny spicy hot, tiny roasted astringent and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, charred wood, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, vanilla, ancho chili, moist soil, hay, raisins in rum and alcohol. Bit thin bodied and but hot but all in all a tasty spiced up IS.
