Pirate bomb is our beer Prairie Bomb! aged in rum casks. The flavor from the casks helps impart more vanilla and coconut flavors to the beer while helping to add more body and smoothness to the already explosive and expressive flavors of Bomb!

Deep black with almost no head. Aroma is really dark chocolate, coffee, some sweet cherries, pepper. Too much coffee for me. Taste is bittersweet, with much of everything, no sourness. Also remarkable is the chili-like-spicyness. Really well-rounded. Full body, heavy but not too much. Could have some more sweet chocolate but overall still beautiful.

Bottle. Big burned chocolate, great chili, smoke, vanilla, rust. Black, low brown head. Old dark chocolate, vanilla, cigar tobacco, dusty oxidized malt. Hop bitterness, chili burn. Medium full, light sticky. Weird.

Bottle from a trade with sneakychi, many thanks! Pitch black color with dark beige head. Aroma is chili, vanilla, black chocolate, cherry, coffee. Taste is vanilla, black chocolate, chili catch, espresso. Slightly hot finish, low carbonation. Full-bodied. Complex. A true bomb. The hotness is really well-balanced, it’s got the slight tickle.

This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a quickly dissipating white to off white foamy head that quickly dissipated.
The aroma had the big boozy goodness of the rum up front. Delicate woody to chocolate underneath. Sly vanilla. Subtle cinnamon.
The flavor wraps all of the flavors of the aroma together. Cinnamon and vanilla bounce together in the aftertaste and departs nicely with a semi-sweet/spicy finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice sipping quality about it. Spices hit nicely, not too harsh.
Overall, loved it, but not exactly sure why I had it this time of the year. Would love to have it again but preferably in Winter.

Tap sample@Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2016, Copenhagen - black with a tan head. Dark roasted malty aroma and taste, with chocolate, some coffee, caramel, some great coconut notes, massive rum prominence, roasted finish. Gorgeous.

On tap at CBC 2016, day 2. Pitch black with not much head. Chocolate, coffee, rum and hot chilli. Smooth mouthfeel, the alcohol is well hidden.
