Bottle from Euro local swap, many thanks VDuquerroux. BBT 01/2022. Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma of dark malt, coconuts, cocoa, nougat. Taste, nougat, coconut, cocoa, dark chocolate, alcohol. Could be less alcoholic, but still very tasty.

Having a 13% imperial Stout named after insomnia will hopefully not have any bad consequences... La Debauche Insomnie 13% Imperial Stout with Coco & Maple Syrup Deep inky black with a rusty head of fizzy foam that doesn’t last. Big coconut aroma, with a rich buttery fresh pastry crush thing going on as well. Very full bodied with a prickly sharp carbonation but very small bubbles. The taste is like a freshly buttered chocolate coconut croissant. It’s quite good but not at all what I was expecting, usually when I get buttery anything it’s an off flavor. In this case it’s seriously freshly baked pastry like.

Bottle at home from La Cave a Bulles, Paris, 1st December 19. Pours a black viscous stout. Aroma is chocolate and coconut, bounty bar. Taste is smooth, bitter dark chocolate, well integrated toasted coconut, bounty bar bitter sweet maple syrup, it’s well balanced and delicious

Pitch black pour with a beautiful dark tan head. Notes of coconut and maple, both a bit artificial for some reason, burnt caramel, toffee, a bit of instant coffee, dark cherries.

Il n'y a pas à dire, la Débauche sait réellement faire de beaux Imperial Stout, riches et intenses. Cela est sans conteste leur signature. Cette insomnie est ainsi pleine en bouche avec de arômes francs et pêchus. Avertissement tout de même, pour apprécier cet Imperial Stout il vous faudra réellement apprécier la coco car ils y sont allés franchement. Un peu trop à mon sens et c'est là mon seul bémol. Une coco un peu plus fine et élégante aurait été préférable. Noir total en verre avec une mousse brune s'estompant rapidement. Le nez est puissant et ample sur le café, chocolat, la noix de coco et le sirop d'érable. L'attaque est sur un très bon équilibre avec une base à la fois soyeuse et onctueuse. La seconde bouche voit la noix de coco nettement dominer les autres arômes. De légères épices viennent agrémenter l'ensemble avec également un alcool à 13 % qui se fait ressentir sans se faire nettement sentir mais donnant du tonus. L’arrière-bouche met en relief un peu plus le duo sirop d'érable et alcool (mais toujours avec une coco bien présente). Le final est long et doux comme une caresse. Belle bière.
