Almost black with creamy light brown head. Strong hazelnuts, coffee, light roasted malts, soft minerals, dried and sugared mango, light ash. Light sweet and under medium bitter. Under medium bodied with a bit dry feel. A bit too much hazelnut maybe, but quite good.

On tap as part of a sampler at Founders Brewery in Grand Rapids, MI. This one takes the cake for the best I sampled in my snow-trenched day. Appearance pure black with a rich tan creamy head. Aroma like hot chocolate, extremely decadent and creamy, quintessential dessert brew from the aroma perspective, possibly more decadent than Rogue Chocolate Stout. Taste is seriously like a Butterfinger beer. Tastes like a peanut butter candy bar (this is what I got from the hazelnut...like Ferraro Rocher in a glass), there’s not much in there on the hop end but its super creamy and overtly decadent. This is the best chocolate stout I’ve ever had.

On tap at Founders. Poured (via nitro tap) deep opaque brown, topped by a medium creamy cream-colored head. Light aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and a touch of amaretto. The flavor is basically a cross between their Nutty Professor Nut Stout and Coffee Stout, with amaretto flavors playing off of somewhat bitter coffee and roasted malts. Creamy body. Another play off their basic nitro stout, and another good beer, but I wish they’d try a different stout recipe every now and then.
