Chuck's Hop Shop (85th St.) 8th anniversary beer. Call of the Void started as a wheat blonde base that was fermented in a mix of Washington red wine barrels with a blended house wild culture. It was then transferred into oak puncheons on top of massive amounts of black currants and blackberries, where it underwent a secondary fermentation before bottle conditioning with Brettanomyces.

Bottle @ Aarons Sidearm Share. Pours deep dark purple with a small pink head. Aromas of blackberries, timian, herbal notes, spices, weird curry like note in a nice way. Taste has lots of lactic acidity, blackberries, blackcurrants, subtle funk.

Bottle at the taproom. The beer is a clear dark maroon-ish purple color with a thin pinkish-white head that burns away quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of tart berries and currants, wheat and malt. Medium body with flavors of vinous oak, blackcurrants, blackberry, yeast and doughy malt. The finish is tart and oaky with a currant aftertaste. Very good beer all around.
