Amber in colour, which after all is the traditional appearance of historical white beers, it has a higher volume of alcohol (6%) than the white beers we are familiar with. Having been created locally (1991), this white beer has long since burst out beyond the banks of the Grande and Petite Honnelle rivers whose name it proudly bears. Yet, Blanche des Honnelles steers clear of the well-trodden paths taken by some beers. Its taste is surprising and in no way comparable to the other beverages of the same type that are currently on the market. While relatively discreet on the nose, its initial flavour yields to an intensely dry bitterness on a peppery background. There is no acidity in this three-cereal white beer (barley, wheat, oats). Its taste is invigorating.
In 2019 the new 1979 label was introduced to commemorate the 40th jubilee of the brewery.

Bottle. Golden-orange colour with a beige head. Aroma is dry, orange, hay, orange. Flavour is dry, earth, yeast, orange, citrus, fruit, spices. Nice beer.

Looks like a hefe weizen, hazy yellow color, small white head. Not much smell, just a little sweet. Taste sweet, little sticky. nice carbo, ok body.

Bottle Sweet banana/orange malt aroma with a hint of pepper and coriander. Hazy golden yellow color with large white head and moderate effervescence. Sweet banana/orange, coriander and wheat malt flavor with a sharp, acidic and peppery finish. Body a bit light. Nice, spicy witbier.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, orange-golden colour with an off-white and small frothy head. Sweet, almost a bit sugary malty and slightly wheaty aroma with bready notes, a rather discreet fruit-character and a touch of anise. Sweet flavour, medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Cara-malt,y, citric and slightly zesty taste with mildly spicy notes; medium-dry, moderately fruity and spicy finish with a warming alcoholic note. Unusual Wit but a pleasant one. 09.I.11

33cl bottle from Bierkompass.de, Poured lovely golden hazy color with a frothy white head. Aroma is banana and spices. Flavor is coriander, citrus, peppery and spicy. Sweet short finish. Very nice and refreshing, one of the best witbiers I have tried.

i am slowly becoming aware that there is a large difference between a blanche or belgian wheat ale, and whites or witbiers. this one was a clear amber color and smelled more like a belgian pale than anything. taste is flowery and dry and was lovely until the last few sips where you could feel the sediment on your tonuge that was pretty off-putting. a nice overall beer, but there should be two categories, one for belgian wheat ales, and one for whites, they really are two different types of beers.
