Amber in colour, which after all is the traditional appearance of historical white beers, it has a higher volume of alcohol (6%) than the white beers we are familiar with. Having been created locally (1991), this white beer has long since burst out beyond the banks of the Grande and Petite Honnelle rivers whose name it proudly bears. Yet, Blanche des Honnelles steers clear of the well-trodden paths taken by some beers. Its taste is surprising and in no way comparable to the other beverages of the same type that are currently on the market. While relatively discreet on the nose, its initial flavour yields to an intensely dry bitterness on a peppery background. There is no acidity in this three-cereal white beer (barley, wheat, oats). Its taste is invigorating.
In 2019 the new 1979 label was introduced to commemorate the 40th jubilee of the brewery.

Cask at Hereford Beer & Cider Festival 6.07.13 Pours hazy gold with a white head, some yeast in suspension. Sweet, yeasty bit of dusty furniture, soft in mouth bit of vanilla. Bit chewy, bit offside at times, but its good. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

Single brown bottle from the LCBO. Pours a cloudy golden colour with a frothy white head, just above average retention and minimal lacing. Mild orange aromas with some light grass and yeast. The taste is pretty mild with cereal grains and just a tad of citrus sweetness from the oranges. Medium-light bodied, kind of boring. Lacking lots of character and spices. Just straight-up easy to drink.

Pours hazy gold with a quickly fading white head. Aroma is bready and zesty. Taste has spice, bread, citrus and honey, but dry. Complex flavours that change with each sip. Good stuff.

Hazy gold beer, tiny white head. Light crisp palate, semi dry. Minerals. Sweetish malt. A little sweet fruit - but watery. Semi dry finish. Okay but a bit thin in the flavour department.

75cl bottle with Alexcg at La Maison Belge, Puerto de la Cruz. Pours slightly hazy golden with a white head. Wheaty and yeasty aroma with spices and citrus. A bit sweet with a somewhat dry and citric finish with some bitterness. Medium body. Quite decent, but not as refreshing as other witbiers I have tried. (2013-01-05)

BBE 15/07/13 - Pours dark golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma of spices, yeast, hints of ripe fruits and farmhouse notes. Taste is fruity and spicy with some wheat notes, hints of yeast and farmhouse. Finish is stingy and spicy with some fruity notes. Nice, quite tasty witbier.

Bottle from Beermerchants. It pours hazy golden yellow with a large quickly dissipating white head. The nose is wheat, sweet tangerine, pepper and coriander. The taste is tangerine, peach, pepper, clove, wheat, wood, herbal notes and a sweet background with a dry, spicy finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. Well balanced. Dynamic stuff.
