Assertive hoppy & floral west coast style IPA. Pike Space Needle Golden IPA is generously brewed with five varieties of Yakima Valley aroma and flavoring hops. We then dry hop it with whole-cone Columbus, Summit and Centennial hops, which impart a floral aroma that has catapulted this beer to one of Pike Brewing customer’s favorite IPA’s.

This beer won a blind tasting competition to be the commemorative beer for the Space Needle’s 50th anniversary in 2012. It was so well received that it has been added to Pike’s year round collection.

It was 1962 and the world came to Seattle for the World’s Fair and its futuristic symbol, the Space Needle. The beer served at the ‘62 World’s Fair? Likely nothing at all like this west coast style IPA, generously brewed with five varieties of Yakima Valley aroma and flavoring hops. We then dry hop it with whole-cone Columbus, Summit and Centennial hops, which impart a floral aroma that has catapulted this beer to one of Pike Brewing customer’s favorite IPA’s.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a slightly cloudy dark orange color with a medium frothy light beige head that dissipates slowly. Stringy lacing on the glass. The aroma is pine, hops and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of ripe citrus, resiny hops and earthy malt. The finish is short yet intensely fruity. Above average overall.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks Dagan. Hazy orange. Aroma of floral and citric hops, a bit stale. Rather dry flavor with light malty sweetness and nice grapefruity bitter hops. Medium-bodied. Nice but a bit old.

Draft - Sweet but mellow malts with earthy hops. A bit of spice and caramel on the nose as well. Cloudy orange with a bubbly head. Flowery hop forward with a quick bitterness. Spicy with a bit of resin finish.

22 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of mandarin oranges, resinous hops and loads of caramel malt. Flavour of citrus hops, dry orange peel, some mandarin oranges, and just enough malt backing. The mandarins and bitter orange peel linger nicely. Very solid IPA.

Bomber from Malt and Vine. Pours hazy golden amber with a foamy white head. Aroma is citrus, maybe even rind, over light roast caramel. Med + body. Flavor is lots of citrus, and maybe a bit of floral, over light caramel. This is hoppy and bitter. NW rules! If this were imperialized, it might tear lining from the esophagus. Excellent. Twice excellent.
