Hazy amberbrown colour, good frothy beige head, good retention. Aroma roasted malt, caramel, overripe and dried red fruit, light apple syrup, maple syrup. Taste light heavy to medium sweet and light bitter, malty, raisins, red fruits, spicy notes. Sweetbitter aftertaste, sugary, woody notes, alcohol well-hidden; full-bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation. A sturdy and round quadrupel, good.

33 cl bottle @ home. Deep brown color with a red hue. Beige head with short retention. Aroma’s: sweet, wort (from the bottle), red/dried fruit, sugar. Retronasal it’s sweet, spicy/herbal (aniseed?). Flavor is sweet with light bitterness. Alcohol is quite well hidden. Medium bodied. Some roasty bitterness in the finish. Not too bad, not too great.

Bottle from Speciaal Bier Bodegraven, BB Febr 2016, large sample. Clear redbrown color, short frothy head. Aroma is spicy, orange peel, bit ginger, some xmas spice like cardamom or clove. Quite spicy and dry in taste, slight sweet caramel. Touch of alcohol, dry of spice, which dominate the beer. Too spicy for me.

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Deep dark red color, full sized a bit soapy off-white head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, sweet, overripe fruits. Taste malts, sweetness, lightly (Dutch) "wrang" due to overripe fruits. Maybe a bit thin bodied since it’s an 11.5% ABV Quadrupel, decent carbonation. Not bad, but not convinced. Think this could work out well if aged on wine barrels, but it doesn’t have the body to -for instance- age well on a bourbon or whisky barrel.
