Bomber. Pours a clear reddish amber color with a large white head. A big sweet malty nose. The flavor is light citrus, caramel, toffee, very sweet. Bitter rye spiciness in the tail. Pretty good. A bit simple but tasty.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 8/8/2015. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big peach, pineapple, mango, tangerine, pear, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, toasted bread, light spicy rye, and floral/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; with great strength. Taste of big pineapple, peach, mango, tangerine, pear, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, toasted bread, light spicy rye, and floral/toasted earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pineapple, peach, mango, tangerine, pear, lemon/orange zest, light pine, caramel, toasted bread, light spicy rye, and floral/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance, robustness, and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth, fairly creamy, and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Imperial IPA style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. Not as pronounced on rye as I expected, but a very enjoyable offering overall. Definitely for fans of maltier DIPAs.

22oz bottle poured small Boulevardia small tulip. Dark copper, small tight head. It’s like pine-wood hops with light oily hoppiness. Slick maltiness. Flavor is moderately bitter, no caramel (thank god), bitter malts end the flavor. The hops turn a bit cleaning product. Eh, I like it cold and as it warms up less so.

22 Oz bottle poured and shared by mcberko. Thanks! Pours an oily copper color with a fizzy head. Sweet candy caramel malt. Flavor is sweet, and lingers. Malty, rye, bready, and a little banana. Hint of spices towards the finish. Overall a tasty one.

22 oz. bottle, pours a hazy dark orange amber with a small white head. Aroma is hugely malty, with resinous hops, big caramel malt, candied sugar, and maybe a touch of rye. Flavour is big n bold, with big resinous hops, caramel malt, and light spiciness from the rye. Sweet but not too sweet, so it's still got good drinkability. Nice stuff.

I didn’t think I was going to be able to try this as I added it in about the beginning of August. Luckily, Hangar on the wharf hooked me up today.
This was poured into a tall tulip.
The appearance was a bronzed amber with a lighter yellow hue closer to the bottom of the glass. There’s a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light trickling lacing tainting the sides of the glass.
The smell had a really nice sweet Rye malt up front allowing a sticky spiciness to jump through a light caramel malt and then following a citrusy fruitiness.
The taste was sticky sweet combining the Rye malt with the caramel malts and starting to give more of a citrus burst of bitterness to impart a super nice bittersweet blend of enjoyment.
On the palate, this one sits a very nice medium on the body with a sessionability that is there. There’s a decent harshness as a DIPA and a subtle smoothness to blend gracefully here and there.
Overall, Rye DIPA, that’s what it is and this was quite an enjoyable offering by Alaskan.
