A blend of a mature and young ale creates a porter of traditional character that’s dark cherry in colour and complex in taste. Aromas of liquorice, rum, raisin and chocolate with hints of coffee are in abundance in this full-bodied, warming ale.

Bottle at The Fiddler, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy white head. The aroma is red berry fruit, roasted malt. The flavour is medium bitter, light sweet with a smooth caramel, fruit, light hop bitter palate but with a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Dark beer, with some sweetish malty notes of coffee and cacao. Not very complex, quite easy to drink.

Bottle. Aroma dry roasted and chocolate. Quite dry. Clear very dark colour. Off-white head. Taste is again quite dry from the beginning. Roasted and dark chocolate, somewhat simple, but really effective and tasty. Easily drinkable with a dry roasted finish.

Bottle originally from Ocado. Half a shade darker than Coca-Cola brown. A bit of carbs and a wisp of cream-coloured head. Scent of chocolate, slate, a bit of herbal sweetness. Sweet taste that fades with a little twinge of bitterness at the end. Relatively short finish. Light to medium mouthfeel. Quite a good beer and worth drinking, but hard to get overly excited about.

Bottle. Pours dark ruby with off white head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is intense caramel and dark fruits. Taste is milky, caramel, roast, and dark fruits. Overall: nice, but maybe a little bit too light.
