Tap at Iron Cactus in Dallas. Not very interesting with minimal malt. Everything is restrained with no real off flavors. Meh.

This brew pours a light red, I expected something a little bolder. And perhaps I anticipated a bolder taste too because of red ales I have had in the past. This Red is somewhat malty finishing with some caramel. Not going to reach out and grab you but not bad. But not a beer I will seek out. I prefer a more aggressive taste.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a small off white head. The aroma is a bready malt and caramel. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet hop flavor and light bitter finish. Easy to drink a good vienna from Rahr.

Bottle as Buffalo Butt; thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours a ruby amber with a three finger tan head. Nice mildly roasted malt aroma. Medium body with frothy carbonation. A hint of sour, perhaps, with mild herb/hop and light caramel. It’s certainly bitter, but in a mild way. Probably good for washing down food.

Listed as Buffalo Butt. Large, lightbrown head that fizzes away quickly. Clear breown body. Basic, sweet, cereal malt aroma with some honey and spices. Watery, nutty, the salty taste. Pretty fizzy. Talked to the brewers at Rahr, Red and Buffalo Butt are the EXACT same beers, there is no difference, end of debate.

Draught at Cricket’s Grill, Waco
In December it was available in many pubs around Texas, probably a re-edition of the Yellow Rose Buffalo Butt; more than one bartender confirmed that the beer came from Rahr
Light amber color. It seems to be a reasonable beer (an Ale probably, smooth and with a delicate malt taste), but spoiled by a light medicine aftertaste.

Draught at the brewery
Hazy amber color. Aroma of simple Lager. The flavor is not much better, with just a touch of caramel.
